Juanita Rose Gratton, Sr., age 85, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Pearl, IL passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born on January 5, 1936 in Pearl, IL to Ross and Neita Morrow Hoover. She married George William Gratton, Sr. on August 3, 1956 at the Milton Christian Church and he preceded her in death on May 31, 2017.
Juanita graduated from Pearl High School, and during her Senior year, she began working for the State of Illinois. After 47 years of service, she retired from the State of Illinois as a Secretary for the Illinois House of Representatives working in both the Capitol Building and the Stratton Building. Juanita attended the Greenpond Christian Church in earlier years and greatly enjoyed family Sunday dinners and spending time at the farm in Pearl. She also loved dogs and cats, and especially her grandchildren. Juanita was very hardworking and active woman, as well as kind and helpful. She will be missed.
She is survived by her children, George (Cindy) Gratton of Girard, IL and Juanita Rose ‘Ciccie’ Gratton, Jr. of Springfield, IL; seven grandchildren, Katherine Gratton, Justin Gratton, OakLee Pedigo, Kimberly Gratton, Kaitlyn Gratton, BilLee Gratton, and CharLee Gratton; and a great grandchild, Tristen Gratton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Neita Hoover; husband, George Gratton, Sr.; grandson, Jonathan Gratton; and sister, Mary Lou Farrell.
