Roger Leo Butler, age 84, of Rockport, IL passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home in Rockport. He was born June 30, 1939, in Detroit, IL to Leo R. and Mary G. Daniels Butler. Roger grew up in the Detroit area and was a 1957 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Roger was an over-the-road Teamster truckdriver for Roadway, retiring after 33 years. He notably had over 3 million accident-free miles while driving. Roger enjoyed squirrel and pheasant hunting and took special delight in mushroom hunting. Each year he took a weeks’ vacation to come home with his family for mushroom season. He loved spending time with his soulmate, Carol eating fish on Friday nights, sitting at the river watching eagles and barges, and traveling throughout the country, often heading west or south. He was a hard-headed man who was set in his ways but would do anything for his family whom he loved very much.
