Harold Dean Evans, age 83, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at his home.  He was born on December 13, 1936 in Bedford, IL to Oscar and Marguerite Walk Evans.  He married Karen Moore on October 7, 1961 in Milton, IL, and she survives.

Harold attended school in Milton and then joined the United States Army in 1955.  After his Honorable Discharge from the US Army, he returned to Pike County and began working.  He worked as a mechanic for Barton Oldsmobile then went on to manage Pillsbury Elevator in Florence, IL.  Later, he went to work for Feruzzi in North Florence and then worked for the City of Pittsfield as a mechanic, retiring in June of 2007.  Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Pittsfield Lodge #790 A.F. & A.M.  He loved vehicles and restoring them while he was able.  He loved his grandkids and feeding them chocolate candy.  Harold enjoyed going to the blackberry patch and was an avid mushroom hunter, and loved giving his finds to those that were unable to go for themselves.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Evans; son Todd (Alicia) Evans of Griggsville, IL; two grandchildren, Logan Aleczander Evans and Claire Noelle Evans; brother, Stanley Gene Evans of Jacksonville, IL; sisters, Judy Ann (Jesse) Fletcher of Jerseyville, IL, Nancy F. (Ronald) Garrison of Jerseyville, IL, and Joyce M. (Dennis) Challis of Idaho; son-in-law, Rodney Bange of Enon, OH; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Marguerite Evans; daughter, Jerri Lynn Bange; sister, Shirley I. Pyatt; and brother, Donald K. Evans.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Greenpond Cemetery near Pearl, IL.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Greenpond Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
