Sharon Marie Riffey Shannon, age 71 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born November 11, 1948 to Eldon Keith and Lucy Elizabeth (Crawford) Riffey.

Sharon graduated from Waverly High School and went on to attend Patricia Stevens Finishing School in St. Louis, MO. Sharon worked for various places including Capital Records, Tempo Department Store and Visiting Nurses in Jacksonville. She also worked at Elm City Rehabilitation Center in Jacksonville for 17 years and the Hawkeye Glove Factory in Beardstown. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Black Oak Church in rural Beardstown and most recently attended Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield. Sharon liked crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, sewing, enjoyed reading and studying the bible and attending Sunday school.

She is survived by her sons, Darin (Lori) Riffey of Baylis, IL, Douglas (Becky) Shannon of Pittsfield, IL  and Dennis Shannon of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Corbin Riffey, Kayla Burdick, Noah Shannon, Caden Shannon, David Shannon, Wyatt Shannon and Emmitt Shannon; great grandchildren, Harlyn Burdick and Bowen Burdick; brother, Donald (Sharon) Riffey of Wamego, KS and longtime companion, Jesse Barrett of the Illinois Veterens Home in Quincy, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ethel May Riffey in infancy and three brothers, Darrell Dean Riffey, James Eldon Riffey and John Robert Riffey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL. Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday at the church from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will be held at a later date and cremation rights have been accorded. Memorials are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL. Condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.

Darin & family...

Spencer just let me know about your Mother's passing. I want to express my sympathy to all of you. I shall always remember how kind your Mother was to me. When I saw her photo it was a nice memory of Sharon & her smile! Thoughts & prayers & memories of all of our days gone by; when we lived in Meredosia!
