Music by The Piano Brothers

Carol Sue Peters, age 72, of Pearl, IL, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 with her sister Bea and her daughter Wendy by her side.  She was born on December 28, 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Robert and June Wildasin Zick.  She married Michael Peters on October 28, 1967 and he preceded her in death on August 5, 2019.

Carol graduated from Oak Lawn High School and went on to beauty school where she graduated and specialized in making wigs.  She then married Michael and they began their family, building their 1st home in a subdivision of Oak Forest called Gingerwood.  Carol stayed home to raise their two children for many years while also volunteering in many different neighborhood activities.  In her earlier years, she was active in volleyball, racquetball, and bowling, and hosted Bunco Card games in her home.  Carol also enjoyed reading, puzzles, crocheting and decorating her home for Christmas.

As she got closer to retirement, she and her husband built a beautiful home in Pearl, IL.  Once settled in their home, she and her husband enjoyed attending their grandkids’ many activities.  Carol, along with her husband, kept up on Facebook with their son, Michael’s family from Texas.  Looking at pictures and watching videos posted of their grandkids and great-grandkids was a great source of happiness for them both.  After her retirement, Carol did some volunteer work at Illini Community Hospital, worked a short time providing home health care to area residents, and then finally working alongside her daughter Wendy cleaning until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

Carol had a fantastic sense of humor and love “shocking” her grandkids by doing or saying things that were “out of character” for her.  She loved to hear the sound of their laughter.  She enjoyed getting in her truck and going on drives, with music blaring, so of course her grandkids always loved going along for a ride.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Lynn) Peters Jr. of Grand Prairie, TX and Wendy Smith of Pittsfield, IL; seven grandchildren, Sammy (Shannon) Smith, Dakota Smith, Haley Smith, Mandy (Kyle) Wuistinger, Kiera (Kevin) Ramirez, Cory Peters, and Trenton Peters; six great grandchildren, Layla, Autumn, Kaleb, Ayda, Maci, and Echo; and three sisters, Lolly (Paul) Miartan of Sarasota, FL, Sondy (Stan) Burnicks of Prairie View, IL, and Bea McCall of Sarasota, FL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Peters; parents, Robert and June Zick; brother, Bobby Zick; and sister, Cheryl Schultz.

No funeral services will be held per Carol’s personal wishes.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
