Dan K. Whitley, age 83, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield.  He was born on October 3, 1935 in Litchfield, IL to William Luther and Mary Juanita Briggs Whitley.  He married Rosa Jane Silkwood in 1972 at Cottage Hills, and she survives.

Dan graduated from Litchfield High School.  He worked at various jobs before beginning to work at McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO, which later became Boeing.  He retired from there in 1999.  Dan was a member of AFL-CIO Lodge #837 and a member of the NRA.  He loved woodworking and he also collected guns.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosa; three sons, Doug Whitley of Pittsfield, Matt (Tisha) Whitley of Carlinville, IL, and Dan Whitley of Carlinville, IL; seven grandchildren, Hannah Whitley, Colt Whitley, Kayla Whitley, Destiny Millfelt, Connor Whitley, Morgan Whitley, and Michael Clayton; one great grandson, Oliver Whitley; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Whitley of New Douglas, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Valerie Whitley Clayton; and brothers, Dale (Flora) Whitley, Dallas Whitley, and one brother in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Interment will follow at Time Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Memorials are suggested to Time Cemetery Association.  Online condolences may be left  to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
