Wanda L. Rodgers, age 80, of Pittsfield, formerly of New Salem, IL passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  She was born on October 10, 1938 in Beverly Township, IL to William and Irene Cox Schuessler.  She met James Rodgers in 1984 and they had a wonderful thirty-two years together.

Wanda graduated Pittsfield High School in 1956, the first class to graduate from the new high school.  After graduating, she helped on the farm and raised cattle.  She also worked for Motorola in Quincy, IL and for Brown Shoe Company in Pittsfield, IL where she met her husband, James.  She and James liked to go camping, and enjoyed vacationing, spending their winters in Florida and Texas.  In later years, Wanda enjoyed having coffee with her friends at McDonalds and she also became a member of the Pittsfield Church of Christ.  She was a hardworker and friendly.  She also liked to speak her mind and you always knew where you stood with her.

She is survived by her stepdaughters, Judy (Alan) Carithers of San Diego, CA and Janie (Jack) Blevins of Garnett, KS; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; three nephews, Larry (Debbie) Waters of Pittsfield, IL, Rick (Rhonda) Waters of Baylis, IL, and Kent (Renee) Waters of Coatsburg, IL; and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rodgers; her parents, William and Irene Schuessler; a brother in infancy, William Schuessler; a sister, Betty Waters; one nephew, Bob Waters; and one niece Betty Ann Hubbard.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield.  Interment will follow at Baylis Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.  Memorials are suggested to Baylis Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
