Bradley Paul Bennett, age 64, of Pittsfield, Illinois was called home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his residence.  Brad was born on December 15, 1953 in Knox, Indiana to Norman D. and Shirley A. Smith Bennett.  He married the love of his life, Kathryn Ann Dunfee on October 30, 1976 at the United Methodist Church in Monterey, Indiana, and she survives.

Brad graduated from Culver Community High School in 1972.  As a teenager Brad worked at Buckeye Feed and Supply in Monterey.  After graduating from high school, he worked as a machinist at Rockwell International.  He then went on to Valparaiso Technical Institute to graduate with an Associate’s Degree.  He then worked at Bell Laboratories as an electronic technician in Indianapolis, IN.  Upon moving back to Monterey, he worked as a lineman for United Telephone and also farmed and milked cows.  He also worked for his brother, Leon, installing green houses on homes and businesses.  In 1978, Brad made a very important decision and received Jesus Christ as his Savior at the First Baptist Church of Knox, IN.  He then decided to go to Hyles-Anderson College to receive his Pastoral of Theology degree.  Upon graduation, he and his family moved to Berne, IN where he became the Assistant Pastor at Faith Baptist Church, faithfully serving for 10 years.  In 1999, God brought Brad and his family to Grace Baptist Church in Pittsfield, IL, where he became an Assistant Pastor and has served the Lord so faithfully for 20 years.

His father had a plane and a landing strip on their property so this is where his love of planes comes from. Brad was an excellent mechanic and was even better working with wood, which he loved. Brad and Kathy created the Word Works Sign Shop, where they made and sold name log signs.  He also enjoyed camping with his family. Brad was an extremely humble and caring man, always putting others first.  He was a great father to his children and grandchildren and they brought him great joy. Brad was a Good and Faithful Servant.

Survivors include his wife Kathy; three sons, Joshua (Tabitha) Bennett of Barry, IL, Daniel (Victoria) Bennett of Kinderhook, IL, and Bradley Bennett Jr. of Pittsfield, IL; three daughters, April (Daniel) Myers of Griggsville, IL, Rachel (Thomas) Myers of Griggsville, IL, and Sarah Bennett of Pittsfield, IL; eight grandchildren, Carinn Bennett, Cara Bennett, Lillian Myers, Layne Myers, Lydia Myers, Landon Bennett, Logan Bennett, and Lahna Bennett; two brothers, Terry (Paula) Bennett of Spencer, IN and Leon Bennett of Syracuse, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Grace Baptist Church in Pittsfield, Illinois.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM Central Time/4:00 PM Eastern Time at the Alexander Heinemann Memorial Cemetery in Ora, Indiana.  Memorials can be made to the family.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Bro. Bennett has always been the one man I have referenced when thinking about exactly what a biblical Assistant Pastor is. He has always been and will always be the greatest example in my life of a man used by God, loyal to God's man, and humbly serving in any capacity he can. Bro. Bennett is the reason I have a passion for serving my Pastor with loyalty and faithfulness. I love you, Bro. Bennett. Can't wait to see you again in heaven.
Mrs. Bennett and family. I'm praying for you and wish so much that I could be there right now to see you all. Miss you much.
