Richard L. Stauffer, age 74, of Chicago, IL and formerly of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He was born on January 6, 1947 in Hannibal, MO to Elmer Eugene and Dorothy Eileen Kelly Stauffer. Dick married Yvonne Timbrook on August 10, 1975 at Pittsfield First Christian Church and she survives.

Dick was a 1965 graduate of Pittsfield High School and 1970 graduate of Western Illinois University. He spent his career as an educator in the Pikeland School District teaching junior high English and Reading. He began teaching at Baylis, then moved on to Higbee Jr. High and finished out his career at Pikeland Community School. Dick was a beloved husband, father, and papa. He took particular pride in serving his community as a Mason, Shriner and member of the First Christian Church of Pittsfield. Dick will also be lovingly remembered as a teacher, coach, friend, brother, writer, gardener, uncle, actor, director, party-thrower, great-grandfather, klutz, novelty tie-wearer, wise counselor, and devoted Servant of God.

He is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Stauffer; children, Martin R. (Susan) Stauffer of Jacksonville, IL, Jacob Ryan (Michelle) Stauffer of Chicago, IL and Brooke E. (Kenneth) Buczkowski of Brookfield, IL; grandchildren, Nathaniel Ray Stauffer, Destinee May Stauffer, Tabatha Jane Stauffer, Brianna Renae Stauffer, Lucina Leigh Stauffer and Lily Irene Buczkowski; great grandchildren, Mathias James Stauffer, Odin Alexander David Sanders, Silas Orion Lister, Octavia May Fulmer, Lincoln William Joseph Kremer, Braxton Ryan Stauffer and Alaii Grace Lynn Payne; brother, Gene (Florence Anne) Stauffer; and sister, Freda Sheppard.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Stauffer; brothers, William Stauffer and Donald Stauffer; sister-in-law, Judy Stauffer; and brother-in-law, Delbert Sheppard.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 3:30 PM at Baylis Cemetery in Baylis. Memorials are suggested to be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
