Earl ‘Jon’ R. Swett, Jr., age 86 of Beach City, TX passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 at UTMB Health in Galveston, TX. He was born on January 3, 1934 in Jacksonville, IL to Earl R. Swett, Sr. and Georgia Jones Swett.

Jon graduated from Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School in Paxton, IL in 1951 and went on to enlist in the United States Army, serving as a paratrooper. After serving his country in the Army, he obtained his master’s degree in Geology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Jon worked as a petroleum geologist and was vice president of Paragon Resources prior to working independently in the oil and gas industry. Jon was a great father who was always there for his children. He enjoyed golf and loved travelling the world, he especially enjoyed his travels to Australia with his daughter.

He is survived by his son, James (Vonna) Swett of Dayton, TX and daughter, Janet (Mitch) Wade of Beach City, TX.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Georgia Swett.

Graveside services will be held privately at Green Pond Cemetery in Pearl, IL.  Memorials are suggested to be made to Green Pond Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
