James A. “Jim” Sisk, 64, of Baylis, IL died on September 20, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Quincy, IL on June 30, 1955 to James Monroe and Veda Irene (Nichols) Sisk. He married Sherry Potter on March 22, 1975 in Barry and she survives.

Also surviving is a son, Bryan James (Kayla) Sisk and a daughter, Amy Lynn (Derrick) Allison, three grandchildren; Devin Allison, Dylan Allison and Gabriel Allison along with four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a sister.

Jim attended Barry schools and graduated from Barry High School in 1973. He drove trucks for several years in the area before joining the U.S. Army in 1979. Jim served his country for 20 years until his retirement in 1999.  He served in Desert Storm and was present during the signing of the Peace Treaty. A highlight of his Army career was during his command of his M60A-1 tank crew, they were the first crew to score a perfect 1000 on Table VIII Tank Range in Grafenwoehr, Germany. He was a highly decorated combat veteran including Valorous Unit Award and Southwest Asia Service Medal with 3 bronze stars. He liked to watch sports and enjoyed NASCAR and was a huge Cardinal and St. Louis Blues fan.

As per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Park Lawn Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Barry American Legion Post#22 and the US Army Reserve Honor Guard. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements.
