Robert P. Dwinnells, 90, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at his residence.  He was born on March 22, 1927 in Virden, IL to Robert and Vera Anna Perks Dwinnells.  He married Nancy Cooper on May 20, 1977 and she survives.

After graduating from high school, Robert joined the United States Navy.  He sailed in the Pacific Ocean during World War II as Gunner's Mate 3rd Class and was honorably discharged in June of 1946.  He then started his career for CIPS and worked his way up to Superintendent before retiring in 1989.  Robert and Nancy moved to Pittsfield that same year to live out retirement.  Robert was an avid walker, walking 3 to 5 miles, seven days a week until his health declined.  In earlier years, he enjoyed golfing and loved to read.  Robert also liked to goose hunt, but really loved the comradery of being in the duck blind.

He is survived by three sons, Robert Keith (Brenda) Dwinnells of Carlinville, IL, Phillip Van Dwinnells of Brandenton, FL, and Duane Dirk (Michelle) Dwinnells of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Angela Jean (Gary) Hittner of Pittsfield, IL and Melissa Ann Fort of Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Patsy.

Cremation rites will be accorded per Robert's wishes and there will be no services.  Memorials are suggested to the Pittsfield Community Center or Pittsfield West Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left to the family at  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
