Rosemary Sanderson, age 71, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, April 29, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born December 28, 1952, in Jacksonville, IL to Paul Junior and Mary Helen Kaltschnee Neff. Rose married Robert Khoy Sanderson October 19, 1974, in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death August 31, 2007.
Rose graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1970 and she is a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She started her working career at Brown Shoe Factory, worked many years in the fast-food industry and was a member of the inaugural work crew at McDonalds when opened in Pittsfield. She then became a dental assistant at Speckhart & White Dental Office for several years. Rose then worked at the Pike County Courthouse as a Deputy Clerk in the Circuit Clerk’s Office, retiring in 2019. After retirement, she continued to clean several area businesses. Rose was a strong, hardworking woman who was always ready with a smile. She was a dependable family member and friend to many that always put others needs before her own no matter the circumstances. Rose relished spending time with her daily exercise group, took delight with her morning breakfast crew, swimming with her summer pool buddies at King Pool and playing Bingo. Rose most appreciated and adored time spent with her children and grandchildren, and they affectionately named her Mimi. She could always be found cheering from the sidelines and supporting them in all their activities. She was an excellent cook and baker, passing her love of baking on to her grandchildren. They always looked forward to celebrating their birthdays with a customized cake from their Mimi.
Rose is survived by son, James Khoy (Tiffany) Sanderson of Pittsfield, IL; daughter, Sara Rose (Greg) Wyatt of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Aislyn Wyatt, Avery Wyatt, Ryker Wyatt, Elle Sanderson and Lyla Sanderson; brothers, Phillip ‘Butch’ Neff of Hannibal, MO, Larry Neff of Hull, IL, Kenny (Angie) Neff of New Salem, IL; sisters, Norma Neff of Baylis, IL, Connie Howard of Excelsior Springs, MO and Karen (Mike) Davidsmeyer of Centennial, CO; nieces and nephews, Selina Brawner, Josh Neff, Doug Davidsmeyer, Jared Davidsmeyer and Adam Neff; several great nieces, great nephews, aunts and uncles; two sisters-in-law, Rita Kay Neff and Karen (Bob) Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mary Neff; husband, Khoy Sanderson; brother, Steve Neff; brother-in-law, John Howard; sister-in-law, Kay Neff; niece, Stephanie Howard; and nephew, Sonny Howard.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow the service at Pittsfield West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, May 3, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to be made to Saukee Nation or Blessing Hospice.
