Joe Rodney Conkright, 85, of rural Baylis died Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at his home.  He was born April 17, 1932 in Perry, IL to T.R. (Ted) Conkright and Velma Hanlin Conkright Fisher. He married Glenna Marie Risley in Hannibal, MO. on July 19, 1952 and she survives.

Joe was a lifelong farmer in the Baylis area.  He had also been employed at DOT Foods as a truck driver for 7 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 - 1954 and was stationed in Thule, Greenland. Joe enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and was a dedicated Cardinal Fan.

He is survived by his wife, three sons: Bradley Conkright of Griggsville, Mark (Anita) Conkright of Baylis and Jason (Denise) Conkright of Griggsville. Six grandchildren: Trenton Conkright, Rindi Bennett, Kendra (Derek Oitker) Conkright, Lucas (Savanna) Conkright, Carrie (Pete) Stead and Katelin Conkright.
Seven great-grandchildren: Kaden and Addie Bennett, Jake and Greta Oitker, Nolan Conkright, Kaylee and Ayla Stead. Also surviving are step siblings: Creo, Carole, Arnett and Harry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Thelma Willoughby Conkright, step-father Harley Fisher and a grandson Travis Conkright.  

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Darin Workman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 -3 P.M. prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at the Griggsville Cemetery following the service. Memorials are suggested to Pike County/Barry Cancer Support Group, The Griggsville Cemetery or Perry Methodist Church Monday Dinner. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the services.
