Laura Ann (Fletcher) Norris

Laura Ann Norris, age 80, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsfield. She was born June 29, 1943, in Pittsfield, IL to Joe and Mabel Hubbard Fletcher.

Laura worked at Brown Shoe Factory in Pittsfield for 11 ½ years. Laura was one of the first women to work at Hercules in Louisiana, MO in 1976; she continued to work there for 32 years until her retirement in 2008. After retirement, Laura volunteered at the Reach Out Center in Pittsfield where she made many lifelong friends. She always enjoyed planting a vegetable garden each year and was a hardworking woman who was quiet but had a wonderful sense of humor. Laura was very neat and had a special appreciation of what she had and took great care of her possessions. Laura enjoyed going to yard sales and thrift stores with family and friends to seek out treasures. She was always there for friends and family, never knew a stranger and was always able to ‘connect the dots’ when asked who and how folks were related!

Laura is survived by her son, Bob (Sandy Lierly) Norris of Pittsfield, IL; granddaughter, Amanda Fiedler; brother, Jesse (Judy) Fletcher of Jerseyville, IL; sister, Sally (Larry) Martin of Nebo, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mabel Fletcher; and brothers, Joseph Fletcher, Jr. and Charles ‘Charlie’ Fletcher.

Cremation rites have been accorded and Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Oakwood Cemetery or Mason Cemetery. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
