William “Grant” White, age 68, of Barry passed away September 1, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.  He was born in Pittsfield, IL on January 17, 1949 to Kenneth “Bill” Leroy and Connie J. (Pennock) White.  

Grant had worked for Lorraine Cheese in Pittsfield and then at Tate Cheese Company in Valley City, IL for over 10 years. He was a janitor at Western High School for several years and helped his brother Ronnie deliver papers as well.  He also enjoyed hauling hay for several local farmers in his younger days.  Grant enjoyed having coffee with friends at the Jiffy and the truck stop in Barry.  He always took an evening ride around town with his mother.  He was an avid reader of books, magazines and newspapers and enjoyed his dog “Shiloh”.

He is survived by his mother Connie McGlauchlen of Barry and a brother Kenneth Lynn (wife Becky) White of Milton. Also surviving are four nieces and one nephew and their families.

He was preceded in death by his father, his step father Donald McGlauchlen, a brother Ronald Dwayne White and a nephew Greg White.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00P.M., Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry with Mike Malone officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family.  Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling arrangements.

Grant was my classmate (PHS '68), well-liked and appreciated. He will be fondly remembered at our next reunion, I'm sure.
