William Jones, 72 of Milton, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 at his niece's home in Milton.  William was born in Alton on June 30, 1945, a son of Marion and Arie Howland Jones.

William lived with his mother until her passing and then relocated to Milton in 2006 to live with his niece, Becca and Mike Fernandes and their children, Clayton, Logan, Chase, Kolby and Caylee Ann.  He previously worked in the sanitation department of a garbage company in Alton and also farmed with his Dad and grandfather.   While living in Milton he scrapped metal with Albert McEuen.

He loved riding horses and in his earlier years he helped Pat Chamberlain show her horses in competitions.  He enjoyed "tinkering", loved going to yard sales, enjoyed gardening, and fishing.  William enjoyed taking rides throughout the county looking for deer and loved to take walks.  William's true passion was food.  He was a very social person and was always willing to give a helping hand and greatly enjoyed watching and playing with his great niece, CayleeAnn.  He was of the Christian faith.

Surviving are Becca and Mike Fernandes and children of Milton; three brothers, Gregory Jones of N.C.; Rex Jones of Pleasant Hill; and Darryll (Fonda) Jones of Milton; three sisters, Linda (Bill) Berry of Waterloo; Marion White of Pleasant Hill; and June (Wayne) Daniels of Nebo; in addition to his care giver Heather Littig.

William was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew, David Sibley, his favorite Aunt Carol Jean, one niece, Tanya Jones Dolbeare and an infant nephew, Christopher Jones.
