Music by The Piano Brothers

Donna S. Perry, 65 of Pittsfield passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Liberty Village.  Donna was born April 29, 1951 in Pittsfield, a daughter of Donald and Myrtle Doyle Dobey.  She married Richard Perry on October 10, 1970 in Rock Island, IL.  He preceded her in death on March 20, 2016.

After living in the quad-cities area for the first few years of marriage, Donna and Richard returned to Pike County, living and working in Pittsfield.  They later moved to the village of Time, where Richard was village president and Donna served on the village board.  The couple eventually moved back to Pittsfield, making it their permanent home.

Throughout the years Donna worked at various jobs including local restaurants, but her primary employment was in health care facilities.  She first worked as a dietary aide and was later employed as a nurse's aide and home care worker.  She was known and well respected for the compassionate and comforting care which she provided to every patient and client.

At home, Donna enjoyed cooking and crafts, as well as reading and watching her favorite movies and tv shows.  Her signature mashed potatoes, cole slaw, pasta salad and pudding desserts were both expected and relished at every holiday gathering.  She also looked forward to attending local community festivals and events each year.  Among her greatest and most frequent pleasures were the countless hours spent visiting and playing cards and other games with her sister and her niece, Serenity.  Her place at the family game table will be a constant reminder of her fun-loving, kid-at-heart attitude and good sportsmanship.  She was a fierce competitor, a humble winner and a gracious loser.

Donna was a gentle and loving person of Christian faith; a devoted daughter, sister, wife and aunt.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (James) Spoonmore of Pittsfield, a brother-in-law, Jesse Perry of Pittsfield, as well as nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Private cremation rites will be accorded with Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield in charge of the arrangements.  No visitation or services are scheduled.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to those individuals on staff at Illini Hospital, Liberty Village and Blessing Hospice who offered comforting care to Donna during her illness.  A special thanks to Dr. Johnson, Norma, George, Mary, Jennifer and all who offered their thoughts, prayers and other acts of kindness.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice.
