Rex Browning, 78 of Pittsfield passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Gilbert Rex Browning was born on March 26, 1939, a son of Paul and Nora Huntley Browning.

Rex was a veteran of the United State Army.  For many years he was an over the road truck driver.  In the past few years he worked for the City of Pittsfield as the City Park Ranger at the Pittsfield City Lake.  He greatly enjoyed visiting with the campers and made numerous friends throughout his time as the park ranger.

Rex was a simple man and led a simple life. He was an avid fan and follower of the St. Louis Rams and enjoyed Indy car races.  He loved taking care of his vehicles.  The pride of his life was his nieces and great nieces and nephews. The little ones looked forward to their candy treat from Rex.

Survivors are: a brother, Garry (Chris) Browning of Pittsfield; three nieces, Mindy (Brad) Goewey of Irvington, IL; Amy (Richie) Pressey and Angie (Nolan) Willard, both of Pittsfield; and great nieces and nephews, Archie and Boden Goewey, Brady and Bentley Pressey and Raleigh and Norie Willard.  Two cousins, Charles Lowry of Chicago and David Huntley of Tennessee also survive.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Larry and William Browning.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Miller Cemetery near Atlas with Luke Fesler officiating.  There will be no visitation.

Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield Fire Department.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  The Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield has been entrusted with the service.

We are so sorry to hear of Rex's passing. We have known him for a long time. Rex & his mother lived next to Raymond's mom. The last several years we have visited with him at the campground. Our sincere condolences to you all.
