Reverend William S. Shotts, 86 of Pittsfield, IL died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at his home in Pittsfield surrounded by his loving family. Reverend Shotts was born December 6, 1925 in Marshall, IL, the son of Seth and Goldie Simpson Shotts. He married Norma H. Carroll, December 8, 1946 in Marshall, IL and she survives.
Reverend Shotts an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene pastored various churches in
Illinois for forty five years. After retiring in 1998 Reverend Shotts served as the Visitation Pastor at the Church of the Nazarene in Pittsfield and was appointed as interim Pastor at the Church of Nazarene in Barry, IL. He continued in these capacities until his death.
In addition to his wife Norma, he is survived by three children and their spouses: William E. and Linda Shotts of Pleasant Hill; Pamela H. and Robert Stevens of Wamego, KS, recently of Louisiana, MO; and Rev. Stephen A. and Janice Shotts of Brighton, IL.,
Seven grandchildren and their spouses survive: Bryan L. and Erica Shotts of Voluntown, CT; Christopher J. and Anita Shotts of Pittsfield; Melanie A. and Jon Robert Burdick of Estes Park, CO; Staci L. and Sammuel Smock of Wamego, KS; Amanda B. and Jon Espina of San Diego, CA; Kerri Shotts of Brighton, IL; Melinda L. and Christopher Scott of North East, MD in addition to thirteen great grandchildren: William Kodi Shotts, Alexandra L. Shotts, Bryan Cole Shotts, Sean Liam Shotts, Kadynce J. Shotts, Creed J. Shotts, Jonah M. Burdick, Olivia T. Tom, Sophia Q. Smock, Mikayla J. Espina, Luke D. Scott, William S. Scott and Owen M. Scott.
Reverend Shotts is also survived by three brothers, Ronald Dean Shotts of Berlin, N.H.; Doit Shotts of Falls Church, VA; Eugene Shotts of Marshal, IL and two sisters, Retta Tally of Marshall, IL and Sherry Farrell of Clarksville, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Shotts of Keokuk, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene with Dr. James Spruce, Reverend Jon Kroeze, Reverend Stephen A. Shotts, and Rev. Ron Baker officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene.
