Zachary David Thomas

Zachary David Thomas, age 17, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Thursday,October 12, 2023.  He was born on August 12, 2006 in Alton, IL.  His parents are Charles and Charlotte DeJaynes Thomas, and they survive.

Zack was raised in Griggsville and was a senior at the Griggsville-Perry High School, where he was on the honor roll.  Zack was a member of both the baseball and basketball teams. He was past member of the FFA, the Crossroads youth basketball league, and played baseball in the Little League.  Zack was currently working at McDonalds in Pittsfield.  He enjoyed following the NBA, NFL, and WWE on TV.  He also loved cars, especially certain Hot Rods and playing video games with his buddies.  His favorite holiday was Christmas, having an appreciation for the true spirit of Christmas. 

Zack could always be seen wearing a hoodie and would proudly wear pink for all with cancer, once dying his hair pink in honor of his grandmother.  Zack was highly respected and loved by all who knew him.  He had a huge smile that lit up the room, big personality, and an infectious laugh.  He had a heart of gold and loved his family, friends and his special girl Mia.  Zack will be missed by all who knew him, but definitely showed us how to be kind and love everyone. 

Zack is survived by his loving parents Charles and Charlotte Thomas of Griggsville, IL; grandmother Charlene DeJaynes of Pittsfield, IL; one brother Tyler (Emma Clendenny) Thomas of Pittsfield, IL; two sisters Brianna (Joe Poor) Thomas of Pittsfield, IL, and Sierra Thomas of Macomb, IL; two nephews Milo Jay and Elijah Dale Thomas;  girlfriend Caramia ‘Mia’ Martin of Perry, IL; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his comical puppy pals Dexter, Juliet, and Bear survive.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dave DeJaynes and Bill and Glenna Thomas.

Funeral service will be held on Friday October 20, 2023, at the Crossroads Center in Pittsfield, IL at 2:00PM.  Interment will follow at the Griggsville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday October 19, 2023, from 3PM – 7PM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Griggsville-Perry Athletic Boosters.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
