William 'Bill' Bartlett

William C. Bartlett, age 82 of Nebo, IL passed away Monday, January 6, 2025, at his home. He was born September 17, 1942, in Jerseyville, IL to William S. and Dorothy Plummer Bartlett.

Bill graduated from Jerseyville High School. Throughout his life, Bill was a simple man who enjoyed the hunt of buying and selling at auctions and flea markets. He managed the Carrollton Auction House and would sell food and pies during the sales and often traded his goods to the Amish. Bill’s family enjoyed spending Thanksgiving with him where he would provide the entire meal including homemade noodles and amazing pies. Bill was a dutiful and faithful sender of Christmas greetings to friends and family. He was an avid animal lover and would give shelter to those in need and was never without a dog. Bill loved working on furniture, often turning his finds into ‘shabby chic’ treasures. Bill was very politically minded and not afraid to share his opinion and will be kindly remembered by his close friends.

Bill is survived by brother-in-law, Jerome Tepen; nieces and nephews, Denise (Ron) Schneider, Debbie (Kevin) Traub, David (Carl) Tepen, Doug (Laura) Tepen, Dean (Melissa) Tepen, and Duane (Amy) Tepen; and several great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Bartlett; and sister, Judy Tepen.

Cremation rites have been accorded and per Bill's wishes, no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pike County Animal Shelter. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
