Willa C. Schambach, 73, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, at Illini Community Hospital. Willa was born August 5, 1950, in Pittsfield, a daughter to William and Evelyn Batz. Willa graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1968 and married Jay Schambach December 20, 1969, at the First Christian Church in Pittsfield where Willa is a member. She and Jay spent their first year and a half of marriage living in Germany which Willa really enjoyed including their travels through Europe during this time. Willa spent her career as a bookkeeper working for Leon Smith Construction, helping Cass Cable expand its business into the Pittsfield market and many wonderful years at Pitt Stop Auto Supply.
Willa always enjoyed Jamee’s activities from leading her Girl Scout Troup for years to attending her sporting events and cattle shows. She adored her grandchildren, Carson and Kyndall, and loved visiting them in Tulsa when they were young. Willa treasured family time during the holidays, especially Christmas as well as the many trips to Lake of the Ozarks and Big Cedar Lodge. She was a member of the Red Hat Society with her sisters. Jay and Willa could really cut a rug on the dance floor and had lots of fun through the years. She didn’t mind letting you know her opinion, and her spunk never dimmed.
Survivors include her husband, Jay Schambach of Pittsfield; her daughter, Jamee Campbell of Chicago; two grandchildren, Carson and Kyndall Campbell of Chicago; her sister, Mary (Charlie) Gates of Pittsfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
