Wendel Wayne White, age 62 of Griggsville, IL passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born October 5, 1962, in Louisiana, MO to Carl and Patsy Holt White. Wayne married Peggy Sharrow October 16, 1981, at Full Gospel Church in Pittsfield, IL and she survives.
Wayne attended Pleasant Hill schools and Calvary Baptist Church. Over the years, he worked at Brown Shoe Factory, Dura Manufacturing, was a farm hand with a local farmer, and worked maintenance at Pike County Courthouse. Wayne was an advocate for Chaddock in Quincy for several years, worked for Ketterman Communications for over 13 years, and for Walmart until he was no longer able to work due to his health. He was an avid CB and Ham Radio operator and enjoyed weather spotting, liked tinkering on cars, and loved working to restore the Golden Rod Showboat before it burned down. Wayne was a NASCAR fan, especially Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace among many others. He also liked Cardinals baseball and enjoyed video games such as Arc of Wars and pool. Wayne was a jokester and enjoyed making people laugh. He could be stubborn but was always caring, hardworking, and ready to help anyone. Wayne loved his grandkids dearly and cherished having them around whenever possible.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Peggy White of Griggsville, IL; parents, Carl and Patsy White of Nebo, IL; daughters, Jessica (Dennis Shannon) Magelitz, Samantha (Donald) Hull, and Michelle (Patrick) McKinley; grandchildren, Sean Magelitz, Zachary Magelitz, Britney White, Wyatt Hull, KayLeigh White, Meikah McKinley, and Cayle McKinley; sister, Carla (Bill) Sigler; aunts, Cindy White and Peggy (Lyle) Hill; in-laws, Mark and Sherry Sharrow and Rodney and Tammy Sharrow; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, LaVerne Kibbat and Dick Holt; in-laws, Ora and Laura Sharrow; uncle, Harold White; aunt and uncle, Margaret and Ed White; and his dogs, Little Bit and Precious.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
