Wanda R. Stanton, age 86, of Barry, IL passed away Monday, March 7, 2022, at Barry Community Care Center. She was born March 19, 1935, in Poplar Bluff, MO to Edgar and Lillie Douglas Pettypool. Wanda married Ronald L. Stanton in Alton, IL in 1975 and he preceded her in death.
She was a member of Jehovah Witness. Wanda grew up in the Poplar Bluff, MO area and then moved to the St. Louis area for work. Wanda worked in East St. Louis at St. Mary’s for several years as a CNA, in Alton for Elder Care and then did home healthcare. She spent most of her life in the Alton area only coming to Barry to be close to family when her health prohibited her from working. She liked to eat out with friends and family. Loved going to Kingdom Hall on Sunday and spent Saturday going door to door with members of the church spreading God’s word. Wanda enjoyed playing bingo and anything sweet; but above all else she dearly loved her family, especially her grandkids! She was a loving, quiet, caring and sweet lady who’s hugs will be dearly missed by all.
Wanda is survived by sons, William (Donna) Petty, Jr. of Caseyville, IL and Tim Stanton of Alton, IL; daughters, Barbara Brown of Barry, IL, Ronda (Steve) Harmon of Godfrey, IL and Phyllis (Jim) Weeks of Godfrey, IL; ten grandchildren, David Wells, Danny Wells, William Petty, Brian Petty, Stacy Petty, Sandy Fee, Kathy Riley, Marie Woods, Tommy Harmon and Grace Stanton; seventeen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; brother, Herbert Pettypool of Little Rock, AR; and special friend and roommate, Sandra Marsh.
