Wesley ‘Wayne’ Tittsworth, age 88, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on November 15, 2022 at Liberty Village in Pittsfield. He was born on September 5, 1934 in rural New Canton, IL to Jesse and Evalena (Seba) Tittsworth. He married Ella Hofmeister on June 2, 1954 at the Hull Methodist Church and she survives.
Wayne was a member of the El Dara Methodist church until it closed. He graduated from West Pike High School in 1952 and worked for a short time for a railroad company then farmed with his father and father-in-law. Wayne attended barber school in Decatur, IL and returned to Pittsfield to work at Gale Hoskin’s Barber Shop and Leo Cline’s Barber Shop until starting his own shop, “Wayne’s Barber Shop,” all in Pittsfield. He retired in 2014. He was proud of the fact that the first haircut he did was his son’s and the last was his son’s. After entering the nursing home, his son cut his dad’s hair. Wayne belonged to the Old Orchard Country Club and loved playing golf and cards, as well as going to the Mark Twain Casino in LaGrange, MO.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Ella; son, Mark (Betsy) Tittsworth of New Berlin, IL; granddaughters, Charla (Ted) Stieren of Chatham, IL, Dr. Miranda Smith of Quincy, IL, and Jessica (Evan) Zeschke of Allen, TX; great granddaughter, Madison Luckey; great grandson, Isaac Luckey; and the love of his life, his cat Fluffy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Evalena Tittsworth; brother, Frederick ‘Evon’ Tittsworth; and his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Ann and Jerry Motley.
