Virginia A. (Kloth) Sherman

Virginia A. Sherman, age 84 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born November 12, 1940, in St. Louis, MO to Roy and Nellie Martin Kloth. Virginia married James Sherman, Sr. July 20, 1957, and he preceded her in death December 3, 1992.

Virginia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pittsfield. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at Illini Community Hospital for 19 years. Virginia and James moved to the Ozarks and opened a souvenir shop for a year before having to close due to the Flood of 1993. She then went on to work at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville for 20 years before retiring. Virginia loved watching Cardinals baseball on television and also enjoyed watching Gunsmoke, westerns, and John Wayne movies. She enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, mushroom hunting, and gardening and often canned her harvest. Virginia liked to cook and enjoyed time spent with friends. She was a kind, loving, and good-hearted soul who will be dearly missed.

Virginia is survived by son, Jim Sherman of Pittsfield, IL; brother, Jerry (Linda) Kloth of St. Peters, MO; nephew and nieces, Michael (Julie) Kloth, Karla Jones, and Kristy (Mark) Van Ronzelen; three great nieces, Jaylen Sullivan, Chloe Sullivan, and Hannah Kloth; two great nephews, Chase Kloth and Aiden Sullivan; and three great great nephews, Wyatt Workman, Waylon Workman, and Kash Kloth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sherman; parents, Roy and Nellie Kloth; and brother, Roy Kloth, Jr.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and a graveside service will be held on Monday September 20 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery in Pittsfield. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
