Virginia M. Foster, age 79 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Liberty Village in Pittsfield, IL. She was born October 15, 1946, in Pittsfield, IL to James ‘Jake’ and Helen Dark Smith.
Virginia was a 1964 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She volunteered as a candy striper at Illini Community Hospital during high school. Over the years, she also worked at Brown Shoe Factory and Dairy Queen. Virginia later became a CNA, working 30 years combined at Eastside Healthcare, Barry Community Care, and lastly, Liberty Village, where she retired after 15 years of service. She was an avid reader, enjoyed watching cooking shows and tending her flowers. She loved sitting on her back porch and watching the birds, deer, and family of foxes that would return every year. She will be remembered as a kind, strong, and hard-working woman who could be outspoken if she felt it was warranted.
Virginia is survived by children, David Foster and Susane Foster; grandson, Christopher Foster; brother, Gary (Meda) Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Helen Smith; son, Christopher Foster; stepson, Gregory Foster; and siblings, James Smith, Kathy McDonald, and Janet Predmore.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held at this time. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
