Vernon Sevier

Vernon Sevier, age 70 of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, October 12, 2023, at his home. He was born in Pittsfield, IL February 24, 1953, to Kenneth and Betty Joan Smith Sevier. Vern married LuAnn Kinnie November 1, 1974, at Calvary Baptist Church in Pittsfield and she preceded him in death March 5, 2018.

In his youth, Vern enjoyed stock car racing at the Pittsfield track. He was a Boy Scout Troop leader for many years as well as a mechanic and truck driver for numerous years hauling livestock and later fuel for Smith Oil later known as Energy where he retired from in 2021. Vern enjoyed coffee at Jiffi Stop each morning, spending time with family and riding his Harley.

Vern is survived by son, Shane (Melissa) Sevier of Pittsfield, IL; grandchildren, Gage (Katie) Sevier of Pittsfield, IL and Kayla Sevier of Virden, IL; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Jacob Grammer, both of Virden; sister, Kathie (Kevin) Rigg of Quincy, IL; and brother, Terry (Marilyn) Sevier of Memphis, MO; and his beloved dog, Abby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Betty Sevier; and wife of 43 years, LuAnn Sevier.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 16, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.
