Tyler "Max" Zumwalt, 20, of Pittsfield, died Sunday (Jan. 23, 2011) as a result of a vehicle accident near LaGrange, MO. Max was born Dec. 29, 1990, in Pittsfield, a son of Parker and Beth Mitchell Zumwalt.
Max was a sophomore at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO, where he played as a defensive lineman for the Culver-Stockton College football team. Max was a graduate of the Pittsfield High School Class of 2009, where he was an outstanding athlete, and loved Saukee football and baseball.
He greatly enjoyed coaching the youth football league and umpiring Little League baseball in Pittsfield. He enjoyed bow and firearm deer hunting, shooting blue rocks, and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Max especially loved his niece, Katie, and spending time with her.
Max is survived by his parents, Parker and Beth Zumwalt; a brother, Trevor (Kriss Reid, fiancé) Zumwalt; sisters, Tammy (Jarrod) Zumwalt Green and Toyia Zumwalt, all of Pittsfield; and niece, Katie Zumwalt. Additional survivors are his special family, Rick and Tracey Reel and family of Pittsfield; an aunt, Sandra and Lee Richey of Eldred; and four cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Parker and Eileen Zumwalt, and Jim and Wanda Mitchell.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Assembly of God Church in Pittsfield, IL with Pastor Michael TenEyck and Pastor Don Hannell conducting. Interment will follow the service at West Cemetery in Pittsfield. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL.
