Timothy Shoemaker

Timothy T. Shoemaker, age 61, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.  He was born on March 14, 1961 in Pittsfield, IL to John and Barbara Baker Shoemaker.  He married Esther Hurst and they had two sons, Dakota and Dalton.

Tim grew up in Griggsville and spent a lot of time racing motorcycles in the motocross circuit during his junior high years.  He graduated from Griggsville High School in 1979 where he played basketball and worked with his dad for a few years in the oil field on the drilling rigs.  He relocated to Florida in the early 1980’s where he did mason work and returned to Griggsville in the 1990’s.  He worked various jobs including Central Stone, Maschhoff’s, and Bradshaw Custom Pumping as well as some other odd jobs.  Tim liked fishing with his kids, rock hunting, and collecting antiques, arrowheads, and bottles.  He enjoyed socializing with his friends and will be remembered as a true and loyal friend.  Tim was stubborn but humble, kind, and honest and he had a good sense of humor.  He will be missed.

He is survived by his two sons, Dakota Shoemaker of Ft. Bragg, NC and Dalton Shoemaker of Griggsville, IL; brother, Cole (Michelle) Shoemaker of Rockport, IL; sister, Kelly Shoemaker of Chillicothe, IL; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barbara Shoemaker and his grandparents.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 6:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with visitation to be held prior from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be held privately.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
