Thomas C. Miller, age 85 of Quincy, IL and formerly of Barry, IL passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born February 15, 1940, in Barry, IL to Russell S. and Thelma I. Hinch Miller.
Tom served in the United States Army from June 1958 until his honorable discharge in May 1961. He then went to work for Caterpillar in Joliet until his retirement in 1993. Tom attended First Baptist Church of Barry and was a member of Barry American Legion Post #222 since 1999. One of his favorite duties for the American Legion was collecting donations for the Barry Apple Festival Bingo fundraiser. In his earlier years, Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, and remodeling his home. He loved spending time with family and friends and the Hinch reunion was his favorite time of the year.
Tom is survived by Monique Miller; daughter, Anne Carole (Herve) Hebron; sons, Russell F. Miller, Randy C. (Elizabeth) Miller, and Thomas Allen Miller; ten grandchildren, Charlotte Munioz, Felicia Crowder, Parker Miller, Noah Miller, James Miller, Camille Hebron, Nicholas Miller, Christian Miller, Alexandria Sukle, and Marcus Miller; four great grandchildren, Gavin Crowder, Alisia Munioz, Nora Miller, and Evelyn Miller; sister, Sue Lara; sister-in-law, Carrie Miller; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Thelma Miller; sisters, Betty (Ernie) Malone, Jean (Tom) Niffen, Mardell (Andy) Smith, Virginia (David) Bagby, Joyce (Jack) Wintjen, Wanda Kingery, and Rosemary (Glen) Darnell; brothers, Melvin D. Miller, Donald Miller, Norman (Rowena) Miller, Richard ‘Dick’(Bertha) Miller, and Russell (Dorothy) Miller; and nephew, Terry Miller.
Graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry. Military honors are accorded by the Army Military Honor Guard and Barry American Legion Post #222. Memorials are suggested to be made to Barry American Legion Post #222.
