Terry Evans, age 71, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. He was born on August 19, 1950, in Jacksonville, IL to Lena Evans. He married Susan Moore on June 27, 1976, in Griggsville, IL and she survives.
He grew up in Winchester and was raised by his grandparents, Jim and Retha Evans. His mother later moved the family to Quincy, IL. Terry had a very close relationship with his grandparents and called them mom and dad. Terry joined the United States Marine Corp in 1970 during the Vietnam War and worked as a communications operator, being honorably discharged in 1973. He started his trucking career at Coca-Cola where he learned to drive a truck. Terry owned and operated his own truck for over 20 years and received many safety awards over the years. Peterbilt was always his favorite truck to drive. In his spare time, he loved to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spend time with his grandkids. He was a loving man but had a cantankerous side and was known to be rough on the outside but a true softy on the inside. Terry was a loyal family man who will be deeply missed by all.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Evans; three sons, Bryan Evans of Pittsfield, IL, Jeremy (Jennifer Burns) Evans of Carbondale, IL and Justin (Megan) Evans of Pittsfield, IL; three grandchildren, Connor Evans, Gracie Evans and Ryder Evans; brothers, Charles ‘Chuck’ (Denise) Pressey of Kansas, Bill (Chris) Brassfield of Quincy, IL and Mike (Carrie Ann Dyel) Brassfield of Quincy, IL; sisters, Pam (Jerry) Boden of Quincy, IL and Peggy (Scotty) Brassfield of Quincy, IL; extended family, Jodi (Mason) Damon and their children, Adi Damon, Camden Damon and Bennett Damon; special cousins, Randy Ford, Tina Brown, Cindy Jordan, Mark Ford, Debbie Rigor and Steve Hoots; sisters-in-law, Karen O’Connor of Moore, OK and Michelle (Gus Stewart) Moore of St. Charles, MO; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Evans; grandparents, Jim and Retha Evans; and in-laws, Helen and Vinton ‘Buster’ Moore.
