Steven Neff, age 65, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. He was born on September 11, 1957 in Jacksonville, IL to Paul Junior and Mary Helen Kaltschnee Neff. He married Rita Kay Akers and she survives.
Steve graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1976 and then went to work for Kirk Structure which became Longhorn Construction for Jack Kirk. He later went to work for Tom Noble for a time and then back to Longhorn Construction, retiring in February 2022. Steve attended Pittsfield Church of the Nazarene. He liked mowing yards on the side for people and for businesses. He enjoyed going to Branson for the shows and especially to Presley’s Country Jubilee. He loved his movie date nights with Rita and going out to dinner as well as spending time with his grandson and great nieces and nephews. Steve also liked sports, especially basketball.
He is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Adam (Elisa Garland) Neff of St. Charles, MO; grandson, Ari Neff-Garland; brothers, Phillip ‘Butch’ Neff of Hannibal, MO, Larry (Rita) Neff of Hull, IL, and Kenny (Angie) Neff of New Salem, IL; sisters, Rose Sanderson of Pittsfield, IL, Norma Neff of Baylis, IL, Connie Howard of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Karen (Mike) Davidsmeyer of Centennial, CO; nieces, Sara (Greg) Wyatt and Selina (Chris) Brawner; nephews, Godson Jimmy (Tiffany) Sanderson, Josh Neff, Sonny Howard, Doug Davidsmeyer, and Jared Davidsmeyer; several great nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Gary Akers of Orlando, FL; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Charles and Ella Kaltschnee and Charlie and Bernice Neff; in laws, Millie and Don Akers; niece, Stephanie Howard; brothers-in-law, John Howard and Khoy Sanderson; and sister-in-law, Kay Neff.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM the funeral home with interment to follow at Gray Cemetery near New Salem.
