Stephanie L. Scranton

Stephanie L. Scranton, age 29, of New Canton, IL passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, at her home. She was born on February 18, 1992, in Quincy, IL to Greg Scranton and Penny McCleery Scranton.

She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 2012 and worked at the Cardinal Inn and in the dietary department at Liberty Village. However, her favorite job was babysitting for family and friends. In earlier years she loved to swim, ride 4wheelers and go mudding. She was a member of 4H in her youth and in later years a member of New Canton Harvest Festival Committee for several years. Stephanie loved going to the derbies and loved watching her dad, she was his biggest fan. In later years she continued her love of derbies, cheering on her cousins and other family members. She was an animal lover who rescued many dogs over the years. Stephanie was faithful to her family and loyal to her friends; she was loving, caring and compassionate with a bit of sass and outspokenness.

Stephanie is survived by her father, Greg (Lora Williams) Scranton of New Canton, IL; mother, Penny McCleery Scranton; grandmothers, MaryAnn Charlton of New Canton, IL and Mary McCleery of Rockport, IL; sister, Brianna (Cody) McCoy of Rockport, IL; nieces, Jayden Walden and Mackenzie Walden; nephews, Tristan Walden and Brantley McCoy; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her two dogs, Bella and Diesel.

She was preceded in death by grandfathers, Samuel McCleery and Charles ‘Chuck’ White; special uncle, Larry Scranton; along with several other aunts and uncles; and her beloved black lab, Angel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL with visitation prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM and interment to follow at Taylor Martin Cemetery near El Dara, IL.
