Stanley Geiselman, Jr. Obituary

Stanley C. Geiselman, Jr., age 74, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at his home.  He was born on August 14, 1947, in Jackson, MS to Reverend Stanley and Ernease Scarborough Geiselman, Sr.  He married Monica Shaw on October 8, 1972, in Pittsfield, IL and she survives.

Stan graduated from Northwestern High School in Palmyra, IL in 1965 and went on to attend Southern Illinois University Carbondale for a couple of years.  He proudly served the United States Army from 1967 to 1969, serving one of those years in Vietnam.  After his honorable discharge from the US Army, he lived in Jacksonville, IL where he met the love of his life, Monica.  Stan worked for Anderson-Clayton / Kraft Foods as a shipping clerk for over 20 years then became a bookkeeper for Knights Templer Home in Paxton, IL where he retired.  After his retirement, he also worked as a dispatcher for the Pike County jail.  Stan was a member of the Pittsfield United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed playing golf and was a big sports fan favoring the Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals, and Illini basketball.  He really loved mowing his yard as well as other neighborhood yards with his mowing buddy and neighbor, Buzz Ward. He also liked playing cards, especially Spades, as well as playing softball in Palmyra in earlier years.  Stan was very involved with his family and loved attending his grandkids’ dancing and sporting events as well as all of their schools’ Veterans Day programs.  Stan was kind, generous, loving and funny and he will be missed dearly.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Monica Geiselman; son, John (Angie) Geiselman of Quincy, IL; two daughters, Julie Rumple of Pittsfield, IL and Jessica (Paul) Roberson of Chatham, IL; eleven grandchildren, Kennedy Geiselman, Kate Geiselman, Brady Geiselman, Jonathon (Alexa) Rumple, Joshua Rumple, Jonas Rumple, Sadie Rumple, Samantha Roberson, Charlee Roberson, Jack Roberson, and Wesley Roberson; one great grandchild on the way; mother-in-law, Duska Shaw of Pittsfield, IL; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Rachel Geiselman and Matt Shaw (Claudia Iacob); six nieces and nephews, James Geiselman, Ellen Geiselman, Anna Geiselman, Mariah (Travis) Hurt, Bianca Shaw, and Zane Shaw and their mother, Susan Shaw; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Stanley and Ernease Geiselman, Sr.; brother, Gaylord Geiselman; and father-in-law, Gilbert ‘Gib’ Shaw.
