Sheila 'Bumper' Shaw Obituary

Sheila ‘Bumper’ Shaw, age 51, of Griggsville, IL passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at her home.  Bump had a very peaceful passing, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on May 18, 1970, in Jacksonville, IL to Steven L. Shaw and Diann Waters Shaw.

‘Bump’ graduated from Griggsville High School and went on to attend classes in Quincy at John Wood Community College. She worked at various places as a cook including Liberty Village, Hagel 1891, and The Bucket. Food was always a passion for Bump, especially in her own home. This sprouted from years of helping Grandma Sue and Grandma Diann in the kitchen. She also worked as a private caretaker for several years and was experienced in this line of work. Everyone knew she loved meeting old souls, much like Betty and the many others she has cared for over the years.  Sheila had many interests. She loved cooking, cleaning, listening to music and gardening. She enjoyed many outdoor activities but especially liked swimming, boating and tanning. She often brought along at least one of her children to participate in these activities with her, but those will be the memories they won’t forget. Sheila loved her family very much and they loved her dearly as well. Bump knew everybody, she had many close friends throughout the years that were always there for her and vice versa. Bump had a big heart and was very loving as well as a little opinionated and ornery, she was always up to something. No matter how ornery she was, she had the sweetest soul, and she will be missed greatly by those who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Diann Shaw of Griggsville, IL; father, Steve (Belinda Allensworth) Shaw of New Canton, IL; children, JJ Barker of Griggsville, IL, Joey (Gavin McDaniel) Barker of St. Louis, MO, Brenton (Nikki Motley) Noble of Pittsfield, IL; and Ashlyn Labby of Milton, IL; stepsons, Traye (Carly) Labby of Milton, IL and Laken (Mercedes Wray) Labby of St. Charles, MO; grandson, Waylon Barker; brothers, Steve (Teresa) Shaw of Pittsfield, IL and Scott Shaw of Griggsville, IL; sister, Stacey (John Goertz) Shaw of Griggsville, IL; grandpa, Delbert Zumwalt of Pittsfield, IL; nieces and nephews, Isaac Shaw, Rylee Shaw, Josh (Karley) Carter, Lacey Carter, Aaron Shaw, and Dustin Shaw; special friend, Bob Ottwell; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sue Zumwalt and Elmer and Alberta Shaw; stepfather, John ‘Buckshot’ Garrett; and special nephew, Austin Shaw.
