Sharron L. Houchins, age 84, of Nebo, IL passed away on Friday December 27, 2024, at her home. She was born on May 3, 1940, in Perry, IL to Ronald and Hazel (Wagner) Quincy. Sharron married Donald R. Houchins on June 16, 1962, at the Perry Methodist Church and he survives.
Sharron grew up in Perry, IL and graduated from Perry High School. After graduation she went to work at Illini Hospital as an aide. She also worked at Ralph’s Drive-In and later worked several years at the Pleasant Hill Nursing Home as a dietary aide. However, her main career was being a farmer’s wife and tending to the livestock. Sharron was one of the most hardworking women you could find. She was faithful to the Lord and was a member of the Pittsfield First Christian Church. She was also a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and took those jobs serious. Through the years she loved to camp, go fishing, watch game shows, Judge Judy, mystery shows, Jeopardy and crossword puzzles. Sharron was also a great cook and enjoyed family gatherings. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Sharron is survived by her husband of 62 years Donald; one daughter Debra Houchins-Gouran of Pleasant Hill, IL; two grandsons, Curtiss Gouran Jr. and Nickolas Gouran; one sister Judy (Jerry) Green; in-laws, Mary (Bill) VanHoose, Dick (Rhonda) Houchins, Dona (Bryce) Gleckler, John Grogan; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; extended family, Raymond ‘Speedy’ and Joan Moffit and Ferol Hillebrenner. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Mike Quincy; in-laws, Edgar and Kathleen Houchins; sister-in-law, Nancy Grogan; nephew Kevin Kattelman; and great nephew Roman Bushmeyer.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow the service at Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to the Pittsfield First Christian Church or Crescent Heights Cemetery.
