Sharon K. (Cawthon) Hurst

Sharon Kay Hurst, age 78, of Perry, IL passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at her home.  She was born on June 26, 1944 in Pittsfield, IL to Glenn and Georgia Pauline Miller Cawthon.  She married Charles Hurst on March 7, 1963 in Pittsfield, IL and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2009.

Sharon graduated from Griggsville High School in 1962 and later in life, she attended John Wood Community College where she received a Secretarial Degree.  Over the years, she worked at Brown Shoe Factory, Tate Cheese, and Capital Records, as well as Jean Kirk Chiropractic retiring in 2007.  Sharon enjoyed crocheting and jigsaw puzzles and loved working in her yard.  She also liked playing video games with the grandkids as well as board games.  Her grandchildren were her icing on the cake!  Sharon was very quiet, sweet, and loving and she will be missed dearly.

She is survived by two daughters, Lori Sanderson of Perry, IL and Esther Shoemaker (Scott Evans) of Griggsville, IL; three grandchildren, Leslie Sanderson, Dakota Shoemaker, and Dalton Shoemaker; two brothers, Steve Cawthon of Jacksonville, IL and Gerald (Connie) Cawthon of Griggsville, IL; sister, Billie Joann ‘Betty’ (David) Shoemaker of Perry, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Georgia ‘Pauline’ Cawthon; brothers, Glenn Cawthon, Jr., Sanford ‘Buzz’ Cawthon, Mike Cawthon, David ‘Butch’ Cawthon, and Richard ‘Rick’ Cawthon; and sisters, Brenda Mowen, Barbara Patterson, and Carol Orr.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow at Wilson Cemetery in Perry.  Visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.  Niebur Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
