Sandra 'Sandy' Sue (Easley) Tanner

Sandra ‘Sandy’ Sue Tanner, age 82, of Kinderhook, IL, formerly of Pittsfield, IL and Auburn, IL passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at her home. Sandra was born August 13, 1943, in El Dara, IL daughter to John Oren and Marie McCallister Easley.

Sandra was an energetic, loving and vibrant woman who loved to shop…she was most fond of Dollar General trips! She cherished time spent with her family and DeWayne attending family events. Sandra enjoyed fishing and loved watching basketball, especially Illinois and Duke. She was a self-proclaimed hair stylist and truly loved sitting at her new house watching the birds. Sandra worked at Sangamon Schools Employee Credit Union / Illinois Educators Credit Union from 1985 to 2016 when she retired.

Sandra is survived by her partner, DeWayne Williams of Kinderhook, IL; daughter, Veronica (Mark) Sherman of Springfield, IL; sons, Hanford (Catherine) Tanner of Nokomis, IL and John (Kyla) Tanner of Auburn, IL; stepdaughters, Cindy (Jeff) Fesler, Tammy (Ronnie) Malone, and Kathy (Joe) Williams; eight grandchildren, Richard (Reda) Sherman, Rachel (Steven) Knight, Jesse Sherman, Emily (Nick) McGill, MacKenzie (Sam) Canaday, Morgan (Gaige) Wallace, Katie Jo Tanner, and Justin Tanner; eight great grandchildren, Ronan and Stellan Knight, Charleigh, Camden, and Cartyr McGill, Casey Canaday, and Weston and Collins Wallace; four step grandchildren, Paul (Jessica) Dailey, Anna (Brent) King, Isabella Dailey, and Sophia Dailey; one step great grandchild, Harvey Dailey; sister-in-law, Lola Easley; nieces, Joy Schmitt, Jocinda Shwadlenak, Betsey Acrey, and Gwen Hilligoss; and nephew, Andy Martin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Oren Easley and Marie Easley Sigler; and brother, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Easley.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2026, at New Life Family Church, 303 South Clover Lane, Auburn, IL  62615. Memorials are suggested to be made to Barry American Legion Post #222. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry is handling the arrangements.
