Sandra Reel Obituary

Sandra Y. Reel, age 74, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at her home surrounded by family. She was born March 29, 1949, in Pittsfield, IL to Stuart Eugene and Yvonne Jeanine Claus Griffeth. Sandra married Terry Reel June 25, 1967, at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield and he survives.

Sandy was a 1967 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She worked many jobs over the years including the local bowling alley, Teenie Weenie, Dari Ripple, Mills Bakery, was a daycare provider and Brown Shoe Factory where she made Chris Evert Lloyd sample tennis shoes! She also ran Sandy’s Tan & Tone, Reel Net & Twine, Reel Flowers by Sandy and Sandy’s Super Sales. Sandy was always a dedicated mother who spent countless hours as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, and Sunday School teacher. For many years, she baked splendid birthday and wedding cakes for friends and family. She was her kids and grandkids biggest supporter and could always be found cheering from the stands. Sandy was a super shopper who always found the best deal, whether she needed the item or not! She was an empathetic and giving woman who friends and family knew they could count on for love and nurturing. She often used her past experiences to help others through struggles and tough times. Sandy was resilient and strong in her faith and always saw the best in others. She was full of wisdom and never knew a stranger which made her a welcome guest to many conversations, and she will be dearly missed by those who loved her.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Terry Reel; children, Richard (Tracey) Reel of Pittsfield, IL, Christa (David) Beck of Iowa and Jamie (Christina) Reel of Florida; grandchildren, Clint (Emmarie) Hamilton, Brad (Jordan) Hamilton, Nick (Tristan) Reel, T.J. (Marissa Burdick) Reel, Kole (Miranda Seitz) Perkins, Hunter Perkins, Brianna Reel, Alex (Adelyn) Reel and Athan Reel; great grandchildren, Leo Seitz, Milo Seitz and Daisey Perkins; siblings, Phillip (Rose VanEgmond) Griffeth, Chester (Tami) Griffeth; sister-in-law, Marge Griffeth; brothers-in-law, Larry Whewell and Roger (Sara) Reel; son-in-law, Bill Perkins; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stuart and Yvonne Griffeth; brothers, Michael Griffeth and Gale Griffeth; sister, Barbara Whewell; in-laws, Fred and Bessie Reel and Deloris Dolbeare Reel.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield with interment to follow the service at Blue River Cemetery in Detroit, IL. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at the funeral home from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to be made to Blessing Hospice or West Central Illinois Transit.
