Sandra Bishop Obituary

Sandra Ann Bishop, age 74, of Pittsfield, IL passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born August 21, 1948, in St. Louis, MO to Harold and Anna Vogt Slight. Sandra married Jack Bishop July 26, 2009, at Baylis Baptist Church and he survives.

Sandra graduated from Griggsville High School and after graduation was a waitress at The Purple Martin Inn, The Pantry and Cardinal Inn. She also delivered newspapers in her spare time and worked at County Market and Save A Lot as a cashier. Sandra was a member of Baylis Baptist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially when tending to her flowers and mowing her yard. She loved to talk about the weather and listen to the up-to-date forecasts. Sandra bowled on a league and enjoyed playing cards with friends and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was an animal lover and her favorite four-legged friend was her pit bull, Ginger. Sandra loved to rearrange her furniture and her knick knack collection. She often joked around with her siblings whom she was always close with and absolutely loved spending time and playing with her grandkids. Sandra will be fondly remembered as being dependable and outspoken.

Sandra is survived by her loving husband, Jack Bishop; daughters, Elizabeth (Jerry) Myers and Stephanie Shelton, both of Barry, IL; step-children, Mike (Vickie) Ballinger, Mark (Barb) Ballinger, Marsha (Tim) DeJaynes and Jack Bishop; grandchildren, Sasha Smith, Jacob Smith, Joseph (Lilly) Capps, December Butler, Makayla (Trae) Rose, Melissa Watts, Brenden Gage Baxter and Easton (J.R.) Baker; step grandchildren, Samantha Myers, Emily Myers, Mary Myers,George Myers, Megan (Chase) Vose, Nathan DeJaynes, Michael Phillips and Kerri Ballinger; thirteen great grandchildren; and one step great grandchild; one great-great grandchild; brothers, Fred Slight and Harold (Lori) Slight; sisters, Sharon Smith, Susan Collins, Shelia Slight and Shelby (Pete) Deeder; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Anna Slight; daughter, Melissa Shelton in infancy; and brother-in-law, Larry Collins.

Cremation rites have been accorded and funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
