Obituary

S. Allen Martin, age 79, passed away November 17, 2022, after many years of fighting cancer. He was born May 21, 1943, in Pittsfield, IL.

Allen served his country in the United States Navy from November 30, 1960 until his honorable discharge April 25, 1964. He was well known for his prized Walker Coon dogs, one in which he won The World Hunt with his coon dog, Red Ryder. He was an avid coon hunter and a master carpenter and contractor. There was not a project that he could not build from the ground up and working with his hands was a true passion for Allen.

He was preceded in death by Linda (Bonar) Martin; daughter, Tammy Martin Goforth; grandson, David Allen Redman; parents, Ray and May Martin; and siblings, Joan Shade, Alice Edwards, Charles Ray, Ronnie Wayne, Rodney Gordon and Lyndle Vay.

Allen will be laid to rest at 11:00 AM on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Gray Cemetery in rural New Salem, IL.
