Rozilla A. Stice, age, 84, of Barry, IL passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 24, 1940 in Barry, IL to Donald and Stella (Wojcik) Hoskins. Rozilla married Donald H. Stice on August 25, 1959 in Winchester, IL and he preceded her in death on October 26, 2009.
Rozilla graduated from Barry High School in 1958. After getting married she worked at a diner in Winchester, before moving to Barry. She then went to work at the shoe factory in Hannibal, MO before moving on to Motorola in Quincy, IL. She worked at the nursing home for a time and then became a housewife and ran a daycare out of her home with her daughter. Rozilla worked with Bonnie Megehe at the craft factory in Barry before fully retiring.
In her early years she enjoyed playing in several card clubs. She also liked to crochet, put together puzzles, was an avid western book reader and enjoyed video and computer games. Rozilla has taken many bus trips to play bingo or to a casino. She loved Elvis, always taking her kids to the Drive-in to see an Elvis movie and she really loved a cold Pepsi. Rozilla was always ready for a road trip to see her out of state family. She was brutally honest with a great sense of humor, who was a good person and always treated everyone with respect. She will be missed.
Rozilla is survived by her children; William Anthony ‘Tony’ (Renee) Stice of Mahtomedi, MN, Donald Wayne Stice of Barry,IL and Ona Gayle Stice of Barry, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Stice, Michelle Stice, and Dalton (Chloe Mellon) Stice; sister Marion Hoskins; sister-in-law, Pat Hoskins-Patterson; and several nieces and nephews survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald; brother, Charles Hoskins; and several aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Bloomfield Cemetery in rural Winchester. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM-11:30 AM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, IL. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Barry Public Library.
