Roy S. Dooley

Roy S. Dooley, age, 67 of Pleasant Hill, IL passed away at his home Tuesday, October 28, 2025. He was born May 17, 1958, in Dallas City, IL to Leo and Joan (Schneeberger) Dooley.

Roy grew up in Dallas City and graduated from Dallas City High School in 1976.  He first worked at Easter Foods in Ft. Madison, IA and then drove a gas tanker truck for Wright Oil Company in Carthage, IL. Roy became a meat cutter at Lemon’s IGA and was then promoted to manager; he then managed the meat department at County Market and retired after over 30 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on cars, doing carpentry work on his house, and appreciated a cold Keystone. Roy was a simple, hardworking, and sometimes stubborn man who loved his son and grandson fiercely and will be missed by those who knew him.

Roy is survived by son, Lucas (Racheal) Dooley of Pleasant Hill, IL; grandson, Oliver Dooley; brother, David Dooley of Dallas City, IL; sisters, Janet Strope of Monroe, GA, Mary Schiedel of Burlington, IA, Patty Peterson of Stronghurst, IL, Sharon Puckett of Sedalia, MO and Sandy Johnson of Rome, IA

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lew and Joan Dooley, and brother, Michael Dooley.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to be made to the family c/o Niebur Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com. Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield is handling the arrangements.
