Ronald Eugene Constable

Ronald Eugene Constable, age 80 of Barry, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois. Born June 7, 1945 in New Canton, Illinois, he was the son of Clarence S. and Edna A. (Tittsworth) Constable. He married Karen Godert on December 7, 1968 at the Baptist Church in Barry, Illinois, and she survives.

Ronald, better known as Hoss or Genie, graduated from Barry High School in 1964. He proudly served in the Air Force from 1965 – 1968 as an airplane mechanic taking supplies into Vietnam. Honorably discharged, Ron returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Karen. In the beginning he worked as a machinist at Hollister Whitney, then tool & die, next as a supervisor, and after 40 years of service he retired in July 2009.

Ron enjoyed tinkering around and working on small engines, lawn mowers, and loved to mow yards for his family. His greatest love was spending time with his family and being at the family farm. He loved travelling to the Smokey Mountains, the Rockies in Colorado, and Destin, Florida, due to Karen’s love for Destin. You could find Ron watching movies with Karen in the evening or sitting on the back porch with a cold beverage. He had a nickname for everyone and loved to pick on you, with love.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Karen; sons, Brian (Treacy) Constable of New Salem, Illinois, Brad (Kristen) Constable of Pittsfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Abby (Nick) Hoebing, Ashlyn (Kip) Taylor, Jacob (Lyndi Weir) Goertz, Bailey (Jeremy) Coultas, and Brad Kruzan; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Hoebing, Monroe Hoebing, Alice Coultas, Adalynn Coultas, Adrian Coultas, and Adler Coultas; brother, Charles Thomas Constable of Ursa, Illinois; sister, Freda Predmore; sisters-in-law, Judy Constable and Nancy Constable; and several niece & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold Constable, Gary Constable and Alfred “Peck” Constable; sisters, Patricia (William) Smith and Carolyn (Dave) Ruble; and a brother-in-law, Robert Predmore.

Services will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry, Illinois.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Parklawn Cemetery, Barry, Illinois, following the service. Memorials may be made to Parklawn Cemetery or Pike County Animal Shelter to the care of Niebur Funeral Chapel.
