Roberta J. (Zumwalt) Miller

Roberta June Miller, age 92, of Pittsfield, IL and formerly of Houston, TX passed away Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Pittsfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 17, 1932, in Nebo, IL to Keith and Leona Durall Zumwalt. Roberta married Ray ‘Jack’ Burdette Miller November 18, 1950, in Pittsfield, IL and he preceded her in death May 25, 2020.

Roberta graduated from Nebo High School and was a switchboard operator at the Pittsfield Telephone office.  Roberta and her husband relocated to Houston, TX where she worked as a health and beauty department manager for H.E.B. supermarket for over 30 years, retiring in 2019.  She was an avid Houston Astros fan, until she returned back to Pike County where she found a love for the St. Louis Cardinals.  Roberta loved going to Bingo and playing card games with her family.  She enjoyed making greeting cards and she loved to shop.  Roberta was a warm, loving, very generous person who would help anybody in need.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Roberta is survived by son, Steve Miller; grandchildren, Ray (Brittany) Miller III and Amy (Jackie) Chairez; great grandson, Jack Miller; brother, Bruce (Nancy) Zumwalt; sister, Reta Smith; sister-in-law, Jody Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Leona Zumwalt; two daughters, Beverly Ann Miller and Terrey Miller; and siblings, Erma Lee Predmore, Dick Zumwalt, Marjorie Collins and Delbert ‘Deb’ Zumwalt.

Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation to be held prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to be made to Pittsfield American Legion Post #152. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.nieburfh.com.
