Robert 'Bob' Edward Hull

Robert ‘Bob’ Edward Hull, age 71, of Griggsville, IL passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield. He was born October 5, 1952, in Pittsfield, IL to Howard E. and Helen Smith Hull. Bob married Martha Sue Deeder July 24, 1971, at Griggsville Christian Church and she survives.

Bob attended school in Griggsville and then worked with Uncle Bud Lawber in the plumbing business. In 1972, he went to work for Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked for 43 years as Bridge Tender Foreman. In his spare time, he worked with Jared in his construction business, J&J Builders. Bob enjoyed woodworking, making both small and large furniture and always made sure there was plenty of firewood ready to go. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Alaska, Colorado and Wyoming. Bob often traveled far and wide to flea markets hunting for treasures and bringing home his bounty. He was an early riser who had several hours of work in before anyone else was up. Bob was a hardworking, stubborn and opiniated man who took great care of his family; he was his grandchildren’s idol and could do no wrong in their eyes and they will miss him dearly.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 53 years, Martha Deeder; mother, Helen Hull; son, Jared R. (Erica) Hull of Griggsville, IL; daughter, Amy (Mike) Logsdon of Petersburg, IL; grandchildren, Jacob (Kaylinn) Hull, Keeley Logsdon and Nate Logsdon; great grandson, Justin Hull; step-granddaughters, Ashlee Jones and Abby Jones; brother, Billy (Kelli) Hull; sisters, Kathy (Bill) Buchanan, Carol (Roger) Shoemaker, Linda (Rick) Hannant; numerous nieces and nephews; in-laws, Monte (Susie) Deeder, Dave (Teresa) Deeder and Pete (Shelby) Deeder; and best buddies, Texas Heelers, Ringo and Wills and Lab, Theo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Hull; and son, Jason in infancy.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 5, 2024, at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, IL with visitation held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Griggsville Cemetery in Griggsville, IL. Memorials are suggested to be made to Griggsville Cemetery.
