Rickey Eddingfield Obituary

Rickey Jay Eddingfield, age 74, of Hull, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Barry Community Care Center in Barry, IL. He was born January 22, 1948, in Hannibal, MO to Donald and Jean Elder Eddingfield. Rickey married Irene Fields on August 15, 1975, in Hannibal, MO and she preceded him in death July of 1997.

Rickey graduated from West Pike High in 1966, lettering in     baseball as a catcher all four years.   He joined the Army Corp of Engineers and also was made to work on his family farm. He later worked in    Evansville, IN at Glass Specialists before deciding to work for himself as an asphalt layer and lightning rod salesman.

He liked playing cards, especially Pitch.  He enjoyed fishing, pool, and shuffleboard but especially loved going on road trips in the RV with Irene, traveling anywhere in the USA. Rickey was an early bird and liked going to the coffee shop first thing in the morning to visit and to sit with friends while solving all the world’s problems.  He didn’t enjoy working on the family farm but was very proud of his family’s heritage and history in the community. Rickey attended the United Baptist Church of Kinderhook and enjoyed reading his Bible.  He also enjoyed spreading the word of God with his fellow residents at the nursing home.  Most of all, he loved his family and friends, spending time with them and ordering them gifts off TV he thought they needed.

Rickey is survived by his children, Jamie (Heath) Hall of Hull, IL, Doug Eddingfield of Hull, IL, Robbie Karlinski of Hannibal, MO and Skeeter Karlinski of St. James, MO; ten grandchildren, Bronx Hall, Boston Hall, Jackson Hall, Savannah (Keaton) Harris, Hunter Eddingfield, Ashley Smashey, Ben Karlinski, Samuel Karlinski, Jordan Karlinski, Joseph Karlinski and Hayden Karlinski; and brother-in-law, Larry Moore of Thompson, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Jean Eddingfield; wife, Irene Eddingfield; granddaughter, Annie Karlinski; and sister, Donetta Sue Moore.
