Richard Weir Obituary

Richard Gail Weir, formerly of Pittsfield, Illinois, died at 5:30 a.m. February 7, 2026, at Lindan Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Richardson, Texas.
Mr. Weir was born April 7, 1931, in Hull, Illinois to George and Fayetta (Starks) Weir. He married Pauline Cecilia (Kinney) Weir on June 8, 1957, in Quincy, Ill. She preceded him in death on October 29, 2023.


Survivors include three daughters and two sons: Paula W. Trimble (Joe) of Austin, Texas; Kathy A. Hyde (Jeff) of Dallas, Texas, Dian G. Holson (Brian) of Katy, Texas, Joe A. Weir (Domenica) of Houston, Texas and David M. Weir (Jennifer) of Plano, Texas.   Mr. Weir has 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Other survivors are a sister, Lynda (Weir) Rought of Humble, Texas and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  Mr. Weir was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Weir. 

After graduation from Hannibal High School in 1949, he joined the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Japan as a teletype operator. After his honorable discharge, he worked for the Chicago-Burlington-Quincy Railroad.  He then enrolled in the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and graduated in 1959.  Richard and Pauline moved to various towns in Missouri and Illinois, and along the way they started their family.  Richard was employed by Miles Drug in 1966 when they moved to Pittsfield, and he later owned and operated IHS Pharmacy until his retirement.  Richard was an avid golfer and loved the St. Louis Cardinals.  He loved being in his garden growing vegetables including tomatoes and green beans.  He was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at a later date.
